Barnabas Bulletin ~ 0018 THE PARABLE OF THE PENCIL
The Pencil Maker took the pencil aside just before putting him into the box. “There are five things you need to know,” he told the pencil, “before I send you out into the world. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best pencil you can be. Let's take time to "sharpen" our discernment so we can clearly see what we're about in this present world (Hebrews 5:14). Bible Readings: Romans 5:1-5; Romans 8:28; Mark 8:34-38; John 1:14; John 12:24-26; 1 John 3:1-3. Please Pray This Prayer: "Dear Lord, in Jesus' name I come to You today. Help me to reflect on who I am as a person before You. Help me to clearly discern the reasons why You have chosen and called me to serve You in this present world. If I have allowed the circumstances and/or disappointments of life to blunt my enthusiasm and passion for You, I ask You to place Your finger on the cause and let me be released to serve You in a greater way. Dear Jesus, help me to be so much the more sharper in my day to day life so that others will see and know that You are the Lord of my life in every way. I really do want to leave my mark for You in this world. In Jesus' name I pray these things, Amen." The Gospel Faith Messenger Ministry, New Zealand.
