In the world today we experience many pressures that come against us, to accuse and pull us down, so we need a spiritual tool to keep us living in victory. I have come to realize the power that is in Praise. As we lift our heart to the Lord, spend time in His presence, praising Him in whatever way we choose, that it brings such a beautiful feeling of His peace. To be able to relax in Him brings such a blessing. He wants us to be creative in the way which we communicate with Him.
Praise means: “To commend the worth of; express admiration of; to laud the glory of God etc., as in song; glorify, a praising or being praised; commendation; glorification – sing someone’s praise or praises; to praise someone highly” (Collins Concise Dictionary).
The Psalms are full of Scripture references to giving Praise to our Lord. Praise is the way to come into God’s presence. Although God is everywhere present, there is a something different which comes with Praise. Psalm 22:3-4, tells us, “But You are Holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel. Our fathers trusted in You; They trusted, and You delivered them.” Sincere Praise is taught here. When we lift our voice up in Praise it surrounds our Lord and releases His Holy Spirit on our behalf. His presence will live within us. God does not only visit us when we Praise Him, but He abides with us and we partner with Him in a growing relationship.
It is so important for us to let this truth build our faith and trust, which enables us to stand strong in the time of troubles. Since God is surrounded with our Praises, worship is the key to entering fully into His presence. His Holy Spirit can come in many ways, such as Prophecy, healings, miracles, conviction of sin and salvation to sinners, and through God’s Word these are some of them.
There is a song that we use to sing which said, “Praise is the Power of Heaven, Praise is the power that opens the door, to the King, the King of Kings. The powers of darkness shall flee, as we praise and magnify Thee, Praise is the power that opens the door, To the King, the King of Kings.” That is a very good description on how to release the Holy Spirit so He can have a free course to do His work in each individual. Perfect Praise produces Power; it is a tool to release the Holy Spirit.
2 Chronicles 5:13-14, tells us that there is power in the unity of Praise, thanksgiving and music. “It came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord, saying: ‘For He is good, For His mercy endure forever,’ that the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not continue to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.” The Holy Spirit truly made His presence known. Powerful Praise brings victory. The Holy Spirit is far stronger than anything that comes against us. “Greater is He that is in us than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4).
When we are downhearted or lonely, Praise is the spiritual tool to use - it will lift us up and set us on our feet again. Praise will replace a heavy spirit and bring hope. When we give Praise to the Lord in all sincerity, and sense His Holy Spirit, we can ask of the Lord and know that He will answer. “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him” (1 John 5:14-15).
Praise, is the answer to a heavy heart.
“…The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness: That they may be called trees of righteousness. The planting of the Lord that He may be glorified” (Isaiah 61:3). We often struggle with all our problems and frustrations, forgetting that all we need to do is to look to the Lord, and tell Him all about them. We have a choice as to whether we turn to the Lord, or we continue to hang on to the feelings that keep us down. Every day we have to make choices and, according to the one we make, we reap the consequences of them. I have proved in my own walk with the Lord that Praise is the tool that lifts me up. Having been widowed twice, I know what it is to be lonely, but through Praise to the Lord I have learned to overcome those feelings that try to bring us down into the pit. One can rise-up in victory when we take our mind off of our self and turn to Jesus.
“Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness. Come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God. It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves. We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations” (Psalm 100).

Please Pray This Prayer:
Father, I come to You in the precious name of my Lord Jesus and ask You to help me to remember that You are always there for me, especially when things are going wrong. Help me remember to learn to give You praise in all situations. To praise You for who You are, the great and mighty God who loves me with an everlasting love. A love that can never leave me for which I give you praise. Thank You Lord, that You understand me and know everything about me, and still pour out Your love upon me. To You be all glory and honour. Amen.
