FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
(Part 2)
In last month’s BB~140, we saw three evidences of a person filled with the Holy Spirit according to the teachings of Jesus, Peter and Paul: power, tongues and prophesying. In Part 2 I want to share with you some things that Jesus said would happen for us when we are filled with the Holy Spirit. Remember, Jesus is the Truth, and when He tells us things we need to do or have in our lives, then you can guarantee they are important. We ignore them to our own loss. Here are some more evidences of being filled with the Holy Spirit:
-
He becomes our Helper and abides with us forever (John 14:16, 26).
-
He (the Holy Spirit) is the Spirit of Truth (John 14:17). Holy Spirit-filled Christians do not tell lies, nor do they testify of things that are not true. Total honesty is a hallmark of a Holy Spirit-filled believer.
-
We know Him, because He now lives with us and within us (John 14:17).
-
Jesus comes to us in the Person of the Holy Spirit (John 14:18).
-
We have a spiritual knowledge and understanding that Jesus is in His Father, we are in Jesus, and Jesus lives in us (John 14:20)!
-
We now have a love relationship with Jesus that we never had before. And it is that love that makes us want to be obedient to whatever Jesus says to us through His Holy Spirit (John 14:15-31).
-
That love relationship through the Holy Spirit gives us access to receiving the “manifestation” or “revelation” of Jesus to us. Jesus reveals Himself to us through the Holy Spirit (John 14:21)
-
That love is demonstrated to Jesus by our “keeping His word” (John 14:23). Love obeys the One we are filled the most with!
-
The Holy Spirit, our Helper, becomes our Teacher. He teaches us all things and brings to our remembrance everything that Jesus has said to us (John 14:26).
-
The Holy Spirit gives us a peace that is beyond anything we can experience in the physical natural realm (John 14:27).
-
He, the Spirit of Truth, testifies of Jesus (John 15:26). He talks to us and shares the things of Jesus with us.
-
Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to us “for our advantage” (“profit, good, expedient”) (John 16:7).
-
His work in our lives is to “convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment” (John 16:8-12). How does He do this? Through our transformed, Spirit-filled lives! His power in us so changes us that we are “salt” and “light” in a dark world (Matthew 5:13-16).
-
The Holy Spirit of Truth guides us into all truth (John 16:13).
-
He, the Holy Spirit, speaks to us what He hears from Jesus and the Father (John 16:13).
-
The Holy Spirit tells us of things to come (John 16:13).
-
The Holy Spirit always glorifies Jesus in and through us! (John 16:14).
Stop and consider these wonderful benefits of being filled with the Holy Spirit. Are you enjoying and experiencing them in your life? If not, then you may need to become more filled with the Holy Spirit? Because you were filled some months or years back does not necessarily mean you are filled now. Christianity will never be totally satisfying, joyful or liberating if we are trying to fulfil God’s purposes for us in our own strength and efforts. Christianity is a God-ordained, God-inspired, Holy Spirit-filled lifestyle that contains all the “ingredients” that the Scriptures teach are ours when we are filled with the Spirit of God. Do not be “short-changed” and do not let others tell you these things are “not for today.” None of us can afford to ignore the promises and purposes of God for our lives. “Be filled with the Holy Spirit”! ~ Rodney W. Francis.

Please Pray This Prayer:
“Dear God, I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and I ask You to fill me totally with Your Blessed Holy Spirit. Help me to lay aside anything that comes between me and You, so I can be completely available to You and what You are saying to me, and requiring of me. I really do want to do Your will, and to be an effective, fruitful and powerful minister of Your Supernatural Gospel in my day and generation. I desire to fulfil Your purpose and vision for my life, and share Your loving heart with others! You are such a Good and Wonderful Lord to me. Thank You, Lord! In Jesus' name, I pray these things. Amen."
