 VISION

“Where there is no vision, the people perish . . .” (Proverbs 29:18, KJV).

Vision is a vital key to achieving the purposes of God in our life. Without a real vision motivating us, we will fail to rise above the many obstacles that confront us, and so we will not accomplish anywhere near what God desires for us. Another translation puts it like this: “Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint” (NKJV), and “The Message” translation gives us this challenge: “If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what He reveals, they are most blessed.” The literal Hebrew is“Without a prophetic vision . . .” Vision is “the ability to perceive future developments.” A prophetic vision reveals God’s future for us.

For the Christian believer, vision is all about seeing, hearing and knowing from God what His plan for our life is. It has to become strong enough within us to convict and motivate us into giving oneself to that which God has revealed. Vision is about revelation ~ a revelation from God to us personally. Without that personal revelation of God’s purpose in our heart, we will drift aimlessly through life, achieving very little. God’s purpose for us is that we achieve things in this life that will last for all time, and eternity! Christian believers have an ability to see what others cannot see, to hear what others cannot hear, and therefore the ability to achieve what others cannot achieve. We have the God-factor, that personal indwelling presence of Jesus Christ living within us by the power of the Holy Spirit, that makes us ALIVE unto God and His will for us.

Vision has to become so strong on the inside of us that we are prepared to commit to it in such a way as to make it a practical living reality, so that others may see what we carry in our heart and spirit! Our task is to translate the vision from the unseen to the seen realm. No one else gets the benefit of a vision until they can see it being outworked in a practical way! Until that happens, the vision does not generate life and faith in others. Some questions need to be asked here:

    •       Do you have a personal vision/revelation from God?

    •       What   are you doing about that vision? It has to be more than simply “praying about it” ~ it has to have faith applied, and faith is an action word.

  •       Does your vision motivate you?

  •       Is your vision for the glory of God, or for yourself?

  •       Is your vision worth living ~ and even dying ~ for? The stronger your vision, the more you will commit to it. Once you start speaking out your vision, others (even Christians) will think you are crazy (or something similar). Are you prepared to sacrifice and suffer to see your vision in God brought to reality?

If we cannot see what God is doing, then we will “stumble all over ourselves”! With vision, the problem is not with other people ~ it is about how we conceive and perceive that which God is saying to us. If we get it wrong there, we get it wrong all the way through! But when we get it right from God, and do what He asks us, then we can have the faith to know that God is going to be glorified through the vision He has sown in our hearts. The results/fruit of that vision will mean that many people will be spared from living carelessly ~ from perishing! Yes, vision is that important!

Make sure your vision is clear, and you know where you are going! ~ Rodney W. Francis.

Please Pray This Prayer:

“Dear God, my Heavenly Father, I come to You in the precious and worthy name of Your Living Son, Jesus Christ. I ask that You will speak to me very clearly and show me Your plans and purposes for my life more clearly. Help me to live close to You to be able to discern Your voice and vision for my life. Give me such vision ~ and the conviction as to what to do with that vision ~ that I will be an instrument in Your hands to save many people from perishing in a Christless eternity. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
