TRUST

It is very easy for us Christians to tell others to “Trust God.” But the question needs to be asked of us, “Do you trust God?” Hey! Wait a minute. Ask yourself that question again: “Do you really trust God?” We are all far too prone to glibly speaking words – spiritual words – yet they do not always impact us with their true meaning as they should. Just think where we would be today if we really did trust God for everything. We would be releasing the hand of God to do for us what He has promised. We would be living in the spirit much more than we do. Our faith would be at a much higher level, because we would have so many more testimonies of what the Lord has done for us.

So, what is trust? Trust is: “reliance on and confidence in the truth, worth, reliability, etc., of a person or thing; faith” (Collins Dictionary). In the Old Testament the word is generally translated as meaning: “to lean on, trust, be confident; to take refuge, to remain stedfast” (Young’s), and the New Testament as: “to hope, to persuade, to trust, have confidence, believe” (Young’s). We can see from these meanings that to trust – and especially to trust God - is a very positive demonstration (on our part) that we do believe what He has declared to and about us. Why should we doubt what God says? Yet, here is the very area where many Christians stumble. We demonstrate by our lack of trust and faith that we are not sure whether or not God means what He says. To trust Him means we have to demonstrate to Him (by our actions) that we are prepared to stake our life upon what He says. If we cannot trust Him, then we have a very weak and unstable belief system. We will be like the Scripture says, “tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine (teaching) (Ephesians 4:14). It is interesting that this statement is written in the context of the functioning of the five-fold ministry gifts. Those ministry gifts are given to bring a confident and secure trust in the power of the Living God through Jesus Christ. They are a manifestation and a demonstration of the power and presence of Jesus Christ through a confirming of His Word by supernatural signs and wonders. It is so much easier to trust God when you have seen His signs and wonders before your very eyes! His signs and wonders bring His Word ALIVE to the point that our faith and trust in Him releases us into realms that we can step into by no other way.

Trusting God means to believe God – more than anything that an unbelieving world, traditional religions, and our own logic would try and cause us to believe otherwise. Trusting God is a personal decision we have to make each time God speaks to us. To trust means that we first have to hear what the Lord is saying to us. If we do not hear, then we have nothing to base our trust upon. Even the written Word has to be "quickened" or "made alive" by the Holy Spirit for us to really commit to true trust.

Christianity has always been very simple. It is all about simply TRUSTING JESUS! He is the truth of God, so everything He says goes! If we doubt Him, then we find that all sorts of “problems” arise, which then take us off into “a religious wilderness” where there is only a form of godliness but no power to live the victorious life in Jesus (2 Timothy 3:1-9).

To trust God means to allow Him to lead and guide us into the very centre of His will, so we can have the joy of fulfilling a tremendous destiny in and with HIM, WHO LOVES US AND ONLY WANTS THE VERY BEST FOR US!

TRUST HIM! He can be relied upon to do what He says. ~Rodney W. Francis.

Please Pray This Prayer:

“Dear Lord, I come to You in the All-powerful name of Jesus Christ, thanking You for the wonderful privilege I have to know and trust You. You have been so good to me, and have blessed me far beyond what I ever deserve. Please help me to rise above every doubt and fear that would seek to rob me of my simple trust in You and what You say. I long to see more ofYour power in my life and witness, and therefore I ask that You will help me to rise in my confidence to trust Your Word to me. I love You, Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray these things, Amen.”
