More Than Conquerors!

MORE THAN CONQUERORS!

By Rodney W. Francis.

In Romans 8:37 we are told: “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him Who loved us.” As we look at the message of Romans 8 we see that the Lord Jesus has provided everything we need to live an overcoming, victorious life. He purchased our complete Salvation through His death, burial and resurrection so that we could live life in the freedom which only He can give us.

  • The challenge we have is to believe what the Bible teaches and to make those decisions that will enable us to experience in reality what Jesus has accomplished for us.

  • It is easy for Christians to quote Scripture verses, but the challenge is to make them a living reality in our daily living.

The Bible does not hide the fact that there is opposition, many obstacles, persecution, mis-understandings, jealousies, false accusations, etc., that come against the Christian who makes the decision to be “full-on” for Jesus Christ. “Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12). Notice it did not say “enjoy persecution” but “suffer persecution.” None of us enjoy being criticized and/or ostracized. Most people do not understand the workings of God in another person’s life, and often what we do not understand or know causes us to re-act and speak in a negative way against that person. Know that a negative confession produces a negative life-style, and will rob us of being “more than a conqueror” in Jesus Christ.

The Bible teaches us that it is our own “natural man” that has to come under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We have to make decisions to “die to self” in order to “live unto Jesus Christ.” God does not violate our will ~ He leaves us with a free choice to do what we decide. That is why it is so important that we know the teachings of the Bible and endeavour to line our lives up with it. It has to be more than good intentions. It is a “full-on” commitment to Jesus Christ that is required; otherwise we will never know the true reality of being more than a conqueror in our day-to-day living.

  • How well are we doing in this process?

TRUE FAITH BELIEVES WHAT GOD SAYS

True faith believes what God says more than the circumstances around us dictate. In today’s world the circumstances will nearly always be negative and discouraging to the born-again, Holy Spirit-filled believer in Jesus Christ. Let us know in our hearts without a doubt that Jesus Christ is totally for us and wants only the best for us. But it has to be received His way, not ours. Our ways will never be acceptable to God ~ that is why we have to be born-again because the old natural and logical thinking cannot understand or comprehend the purposes of God (1 Corinthians 2). The more we conform to God’s way the more we will experience His overcoming life in and through us. We will know and experience the truth of Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

  • When we obey the teachings of Scripture and are committed to doing the will of God and knowing we are called according to His purposes, then we can know that no matter what comes against us, it is going to turn out for our good and we will become even greater conquerors through Jesus Christ.

  • Jesus is an expert at turning the negatives that come against us into positives that are for us!

  • When we believe and know these things ~ and that “If God is for us (and He is!), who can be against us?” (v. 31) ~ then we develop a much more positive attitude towards life, which then causes us to rise up above all the negatives and to see the purposes of God more fully.

  • We cannot go under for going over with Jesus!

LET US BE REALISTIC

Let us be realistic, dear Friend. Every great man and woman in the Bible suffered for their beliefs. Even Jesus Himself was “despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief . . .” (Isaiah 53). We are naïve if we think we can go through life without experiencing some similar things when we are fully committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. But what does the Bible declare? “In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him Who loved us.” Not just conquerors, but “MORE THAN CONQUERORS!” Praise the Lord! That truth and promise is for you and it is for me! Do we believe that? When we look around today it seems that more people are being conquered rather than being conquerors!

What I am talking about here is more important than we realize.

  • We are what our believing is.

  • If we positively believe what the Bible declares and make those decisions that help us to line-up with those declarations, then we are going to experience a much more overcoming and victorious life.

  • “More than conquerors”!

  • Do you believe that?

If we are not enjoying the “more than conquerors through Him Who loved (and still loves) us” then what decisions do you need to make to bring your life more into line with the will and purposes of God?

  • What are you hanging on to?

  • What do you need to yield over to Jesus?

  • He has done all He can so that we can enjoy the overcoming “more than a conqueror” life-style.

  • It is now for us to prove the truth and reality of what He has declared and already done for us.

The more we can agree with God the greater our victory in day-to-day life will be. Jesus did not do what He did and fully accomplished for us, for us to be failures and always struggling in this life. He said, “I am come that you might have life, and that you might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10, NKJV). The Amplified Bible says: “I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” To live as a conqueror means we enjoy life and we are able to give the glory to Jesus Christ, because we know that if it were not for what He accomplished for us in His life, death, burial and resurrection, we would not have any hope of living a victorious, conquering life.

  • Be encouraged to believe God!

  • Believe Him more than your circumstances and feelings!

  • God is much BIGGER than them. His heart is for you and He desires that you and I know the truth, reality and power of being “more than conquerors” in today’s world.

If you have been struggling to live in the victory that Jesus accomplished for you, then I want to encourage you to seek out more positive Christian friends, people who are living victoriously and let them encourage and inspire you to rise higher in Christ’s plan and purpose for your life. Make sure you are not feeding yourself on negative things, and listening to discouraging news and information all the time (the world is full of it), but give time to consciously meditating upon what God says about you and seek to believe it. The more you believe and confess the positives of God to you, the harder it is to live a negative life. It may take you some time to make the adjustments, but it is very well worth the while. Life is too short for Christians not to be experiencing the reality of what Jesus Christ has provided for us. Hallelujah! God bless you!
