What Are You Talking Yourself Out Of

What Are You Talking Yourself Out Of

That You Should Be Talking Yourself Into?

By Pastor Trevor Reith (Hamilton, New Zealand).

What do you tell yourself when you get up in the morning? (I don’t like work?)

What do you tell yourself when you come against a problem? (I can’t do it?)

What do you tell yourself when things happen?

What do you tell yourself when the odds are against you? (I can’t win?)

What do you tell yourself when you are sick? (I’m dying?)

What do you tell yourself when you are tired? (Let me sleep?)

What do you tell yourself when you do something stupid? (You idiot?)

What are the words that go through your mind?

Is there something you have been talking yourself out of that you need to talk yourself into?

When God called Moses, he tried to talk himself out of it:

“But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” (Exodus 3:11).

HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU SAID TO YOURSELF:

‘I am not important enough.’ (Exodus 3:11)?

Talk about low self-image.

‘What shall I say?’ (Exodus 3:13)?

‘I would do this, Lord... But I lack the necessary qualities...’ I’m not good enough.

‘They will not listen to me’ (Exodus 4:1)?

Doubt. ‘Just suppose that I was able to do this work for You, Lord. I am sure that it would not be successful. I would fail. Doubts will stop us being successful in our service for God?

‘I am not a good speaker’ (Exodus 4:10)?

Moses continues with one excuse after another. ‘You can find someone better than me, Lord.’

‘Please send someone else’ (Exodus 4:13)?

‘I know that someone must do the work. But find somebody else for this leadership.’

God gave Moses such a great promise. But Moses still had all those excuses.

SELF TALK:

What are you saying to yourself?

You can talk yourself into it, or out of it.

Do not miss your purpose because you talked yourself out of it.

Nobody can talk you into your destiny, but you.

“For greater is He Who is within me than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4).

DON’T DIE OUTSIDE YOUR DESTINY!

God told Joshua: “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful” (Joshua 1:7-9).

KEEP THE BOOK OF THE LAW ALWAYS ON YOUR LIPS:

What does the Bible tell you?

And what should you be speaking to yourself?

“I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

Who can be against me if You are for me? (see Romans 8).

Jeremiah 29:11 ~ “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope”.

Isaiah 40:28-31 ~ “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might He increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint”.

Romans 8:37-39 ~ “No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us”.

Isaiah 41:10 ~ “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand”.

1 Chronicles 16:11 ~ “Seek the LORD and His strength; seek His presence continually!

Exodus 15:2 ~ “The LORD is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise Him, my father’s God, and I will exalt Him”.
